You can't get a more convenient location than Mather Campground. This campground is operated by the National Parks Service and is incredibly affordable—$18 a night. It is within walking distance to the main visitor center and park shuttle service. You'll need reservations during peak season—March 1-November 30—but they do have 10 sites that are first come, first serve.
